Pulp Friday: The Deadly Second

This short story comes from the pulp “Fifteen Western Tales” published in January of 1953.  It’s the classic western tale of the sheriff, his woman, and the gunman he will face in the street at 1:00PM.  The clock is ticking, the townsfolk are nervous and one woman is determined not to lose her man.  A nice short read.  Common themes for western role playing is the deadline made by the sheriff for the badman (or men) to leave town or else.  Also the role of the women involved in some way with the protagonists (NPC’s).  The women folk are always unpredictable and they can influence events without the player characters knowing.
